The Furnace staff have gathered a lot of friends along the way and here are a few of them who you should check out.

Sotones –
Sotones is a co-operative record label whose sole purpose is to promote exciting and talented new artists and offer and alternative to the conventional get signed, get exploited, get dropped, get a job route that we all know and… erm love?

Sotones promote music night, release sampler compilations of their artists and also handle their artists releases and royalties (plus all the other stuff that you would expect from a hard working lable). We fully support Sotones and will continue to do so as this is the future of music when labels are run for musicians by musicians.

Whisper Magazine –
Whisper Magazine is a free online women’s mag formed by Liz Moores and Natalie Woodcock, who met whilst working on Maxim International at Dennis Publishing.

They were fed up of the overpriced women’s magazines out there and decided to do something about it which they have done emphatically! Rather than writing dribble for morons like some magazines seem to, Whisper has music reviews, fashion and all sorts of stuff that is worth reading without the rubbish and adverts in between.

Whisper Mag publishes every Thursday at www.whispermag.co.uk with a target readership of UK women aged 18-30. It has no registration obligation or fee so get involved! Although it’s not aimed at men, it’s a great read regardless of gender.
