The Furnace is an affordable recording studio with professional recording studio equipment and its set in beautiful countryside with great Mediterranean weather. How do we do it? Welcome to the paradise that is Bulgaria.

Bulgaria has long hot summers like Turkey and short Russian style cold winters and little in between! When we were looking at a studio location we looked at the UK: we looked in London, rural Wales, France, Scotland and none of them suited our criteria which was to be a cheap recording studio without having to compromise on the studio recording equipment. We also wanted space for art, space to relax, space to have a BBQ, space for a photographic studio and space to extend.

Bulgaria seemed like a million miles away to us at first. But something we realised was that it's quicker to fly to Bulgaria than it is to drive from London to West Wales! It's also very cheap to do so.

We are situated just across the border from Bucharest Banaesa in Romania. Banaesa is a cheap airport to fly to with WizzAir who do crazy prices like £24.99 each way from London (as well as Manchester, Dublin and many places in mainland Europe), depending on when you are booking. We are within easy reach of Varna Airport as well which is about 75 mins drive door to door so this is also an option. We have worked out that most people offset the cost of travel (based on 5 people and average WizzAir prices) within 2 ½ days of staying here when compared with a similar standard recording studio in London that isn't residential! Your can also fly to Burgas which is within about 2 hours of us and we can of course help sort out the transfers. If you have a lot of people and equipment we also have the studio van which can fit 5 people (plus driver) and half the London Symphony Orchestra's instruments in the back.

The adventure is another reason we wanted to be in Eastern Europe rather than another run of the mill studio in London. As you have probably gathered, we wanted to create a place for people to be creative without distraction. No catching a bus home, no sorting out a hotel, and even no tidying up after yourself if you want to use our housemaid service!

So Bulgaria is cheap. Cheap food, cheap beer, cheap bills and it's beautiful to boot.

For those of you who will be driving here from the UK, it’s a pretty simple route. We would suggest an overnight stop in Germany, Austria or Hungary (depending on how fast you drive) and we have a deal with a few places to stay for the night so you can see the sights. We’ve done the drive a few times so we’ll be happy to let you know some tips.
