The Furnace is run by Tom and Rysia and is owned by Ah Boo! Ltd (a UK company: ah-boo.com)
We (Tom and Rysia) are into all kinds of creative stuff and our company runs 4 record labels which are distributed worldwide by Sony across a range of different musical styles – Proletkult Records, Cathode Ray Records, Divo Selo Records and Mega Toshi Records.
We decided that we were fed up working with UK recording studios who have to charge a small fortune due to property and rental prices being so high (and council tax, rates, bills etc). So we started looking to offer an alternative: UK standards without the UK price tag. This is how The Furnace came about.
When it comes to recording with us, you have a lot of options to choose from and we want to do what is best for your sound. We want you to feel comfortable in the studio and for the recording environment to be relaxed – because we know that’s how you will work best and how we will get to see you giving a great performance. And that’s how we will end with a recording that we are all proud to have been a part of.
If you click on the ‘rates’ tab at the top of the page you can see more about what we have to offer you including digital and analogue recording as well as mastering.
As you will read across this site, each project is different and we tailor the experience to what suits you.
If you want to come and rehearse for a week before you start recording, that’s fine. If you want to have a rehearsal break in the middle of a two week session so you can come back to it with “fresh ears”, that’s fine. If you want to work non stop for four days and mix and master long distance, again, that is fine. We’ll work to your timescales, budget and preferences.
For us it’s not all about cold hard cash. If it was, we wouldn’t be here and we wouldn’t have people keep coming back. We are passionate about music and sound.
Explore the equipment, recording options and accommodation to see what you think. If you don’t decide to record at The Furnace, tell us why! We want to make a haven for creativity here and we need the input of creative people to tell us if there is something missing. We think it’s pretty great already and everyone who comes agrees!
